FARMING skills were on show during a special event in Bridgwater at the weekend.

Hundreds turned out for the Bridgwater Ploughing Match hosted a National Champion Ploughing event, held at Rhode Farm, which showcased the best of skills among farmers, as well as raising money for Cancer Relief.

David Chappell, who has Ploughed for England a number of times, was behind the fundraiser after his daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer.

While ploughing as at as many matches he can in an effort to raise as much money as he can, Mr Chappell has also painted his match plough pink, matching the charity's colours.

"Each year, the Bridgwater Ploughing Match raises money for charity, this year the president Steve Adams has agreed that this years presidents charity will be Cancer Relief," said an event spokesman.

The event, which ran from 10am until 3pm, saw a host of different ploughing methods in action, giving visitors an insight into the process, as well as a thrilling competition.
