THE tennis court in Eastover Park off Cranleigh Gardens is set for a £22,000 makeover.

The tennis court, which forms part of the Eastover Community Sports Hub, has proved very popular since opening in 2015.

The project saw the existing four dilapidated tennis courts brought back into use as a football and basketball area, outdoor gym, table tennis, street games and tennis court.

This week a new ‘shock pad’ and sports carpet will be laid onto the tennis court surface.

Works started on Monday and are expected to last until the end of the week.

Scott Mason, parks development team leader, said: “The carpet with inlaid lines will make the court usable all year round, absorb impacts and is ideal for enhancing old and worn hard porous courts such as this one.”
