A CHURCH in Bridgwater is installing a £25,000 toilet amid hopes it will help put the place of worship at "the heart of the community".
The loo at St Mary's Church has been specifically designed for use by disabled people and will also have baby changing facilities.
It will be built inside the Tower Room and work on it is expected to start in mid September and last around six weeks.
Reverend Charles Chadwick said: "We have wanted a toilet which can be accessible from the main body of the church to supplement those in our vestry area and to enable the church to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act.
"It is an important step forward in pursuing our vision to make the church at the heart of our community."
