One eye witness expressed concern that the fire was heading towards the wildlife area near the dunes.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue received 15 calls about the blaze, and on arrival estimated that there was a fire front of approximately 1,000m which was rapidly spreading due to strong winds.
A crew from Burnham attended alongside four further pumping appliances, a water carrier and a 4x4 vehicle.
The crews used hose reels, jets and beaters in order to extinguish the fire but not before approximately 3,700 square metres of grassland were set alight.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Stuart Nichols captured video of the fire burning at the golf course.
He said: "It has spread quite far.
"The greens have acted as a barrier, but everything is so dry and like straw and there is a breeze to fan it.
"The fire service is doing a good job."
