TWO people have been arrested after a man was found unconscious on a Taunton street.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Cheddon Road, at the junction with Dorchester Road, shortly before 11am.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Witnesses reported that the man had been ejected from a small, dark-coloured car and officers stopped a car and arrested two men on suspicion of assault just before midday."

The collapsed man, believed to be in his 40s, was treated by ambulance crews.

He was being taken to hospital as a precaution when he left the ambulance in Tangier Way in a state of undress.

Officers located him again in St James Street where he declined further medical treatment.

The junction between Cheddon Road and Dorchester Road was blocked off by police for at least two hours.
