WORK on the new roads at the £150 million Bridgwater Gateway is nearing completion as the major new business park prepares for its launch next month.

Contractor Encon Construction is currently installing a roundabout near the entrance of the 100-acre development at J24 of the M5.

Phil Wade, development manager at Bridgwater Gateway, said: “Work on full infrastructure of 1km of new private estate roads is running to schedule, and is now very close to completion in time for the official launch on Friday, June 15.

“We are looking forward to being able to welcome visitors and show them the opportunities available at Bridgwater Gateway, which will be the newest business park on the M5 corridor and benefits from a strategic location and well-designed, modern buildings.”

Bridgwater Gateway has planning consent for commercial space and landscaping, which will include industrial buildings and self-contained offices, two hotels, as well as a range of local facilities.

The UK’s biggest hotel brand, Premier Inn, has already announced it will be opening a 100-bed hotel on one of the prime road frontage plots at Bridgwater Gateway, and further announcements of occupiers are expected shortly.

Tim Davies, head of the South West and Wales for Colliers International, said: “Bridgwater Gateway will be a business park for the 21st century, and will considerably enhance the prime industrial and Grade A office space in the South West."

Mr Davies said potential occupiers had been impressed with the Gateway's electric charging points, the use of sustainable building technology.
