A BRIDGWATER supermarket has come to the rescue of a school for children with special needs by donating money to make up a shortfall in trip funds.
Asda supermarket, in East Quay, handed over a cheque for £150 to Elmwood Primary School, Asda's charity of the year, so pupils could attend their annual school residential to Salcombe in Devon.
Elmwood School business manager Caroline Fuller said: "Thanks to Asda for coming up with some extra funds everyone who wanted a place was able to go, as this is an expensive activity. However, all the students faced challenges beyond their daily life and learnt so many skills."
Lynn Ferguson, Asda events co-ordinator, said: "Elmwood is a fantastic school with very friendly pupils and teachers and Asda wanted to help support them on this very rewarding trip."
