THE Rollercoaster Youth Club in Sydenham, Bridgwater has achieved Somerset County Council’s ‘Safe and Welcoming’ award.
The popular youth club offers an extensive range of activities and opportunities, as well as a safe and relaxed atmosphere where young people can unwind with their friends.
The ‘Safe and Welcoming’ benchmark scheme accredits the club’s safe practice and appeal to young people.
Bridgwater Town Councillor, Diogo Rodrigues, said “It is wonderful news that the Rollercoaster Youth Club has achieved its Safe and Welcoming benchmark.
"We were in no doubt that the youth club would achieve this easily, as we know of the great work that Julie and the young adults do to ensure that every one of the young children are in a safe and inviting environment when in the club. Well done to you all!”
Cllr Frances Nicholson, cabinet member for children and families at Somerset County Council, said: “It is reassuring for parents and carers to know that their local youth club is safe, sustainable and 'young people friendly'. Once a youth club has gained this award, it becomes instantly recognisable to young people and their families as a great resource for their community.”
The Rollercoaster Youth Club is the 39th club in Somerset to achieve the award.
