THE new headteacher at Bridgwater's Robert Blake Science College has spoken of her ambitions for the school.

Deb Loveridge replaced Rob Gammon at the school at the start of the Autumn Term having previously been the school's deputy headteacher.

The school had 720 students for the previous academic year, and that is up to 750 for this year and Mrs Loveridge expects this to continue to grow.

"I am delighted with the welcome I have received from students, parents, and staff," Miss Loveridge said.

"It is a really exciting time for the school. We have a wonderfully inspirational building which is always full of fabulous work created by our students. The building still looks as though it is three months old, not three years.

Robert Blake Science College received a 'good' Ofsted rating in December 2015 and has seen results improve over the last three years.

"Outcomes are really important to us but so is our philosophy of wanting to get it right for every child.

"We have an inclusive ethos and besides good exam results we work hard to ensure that our students leave us as well rounded individuals ready to take their place both in society, both in the local community and globally.

Miss Loveridge explained why the school's strapline 'Aspire Achieve Celebrate' is so important.

"We want all our students to aspire to be the very best that they can be and achieve great things in life, not just in school," she said.

"This cannot happen with celebrating these achievements along the way.

"I hope I am here for many years to come."
