AMBULANCE and fire engines have been called to a house in Bridgwater after freezer fire spread to the garage.
The initial call was made by the homeowner in Combwich shortly before 7pm, who said that his freezer was on fire.
Two Fire appliances from Bridgwater and one from Nether Stowey were sent to the scene.
On arrival the fire crews confirmed the garage and side utility of the house were well alight.
At around 7.20pm, the incident commander confirmed five firefighters in breathing apparatus were using two hose reel jets, one main jet and positive pressure ventilation, and the fire had been surrounded.
At 7.30pm, an ambulance was requested by the incident commander for a man suffering from smoke inhalation.
At around 8pm, fire crews confirmed all breathing apparatus had been discontinued.
Firefighters are removing roof tiles and damping the area down with a hose reel jet.
