We will all get old: fact. There are a range of conditions which let’s face it we are all concerned we may be affected by as we pass the 50, 60, 70 and beyond pass marks. Parkinson’s is one – it is is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system mainly affecting the motor system. It’s usually associated with the symptom of ‘shaking’.
In Bridgwater there’s a group who meet at Westfield Church in Bridgwater on the last Friday of the month at Westfield Church who say they want to ‘change attitudes and find a cure.”
The disease is named after the English doctor James Parkinson, who published the first detailed description in An Essay on the Shaking Palsy, in 1817.
If you are interested then give Jenny Walters a call on 01278 424951 and pop along to the group. There’s also a carer’s group who meet on the third Thursday of the month in the afternoons. Give Carol Pilbrow a call on 01278 684428 for details. Check out their website at www.parkinsons-taunton.co.uk for details.
