A BRIDGWATER pub, which was nominated for an award, has scooped the regional prize thanks to its commitment helping the local community.
The Plough Inn, in Holford, won gold in the Enterprise Inns Community Heroes Award, and its publican, Chris Hayes, could not be happier.
Since taking over the pub, Chris has put a lot of effort into involving the local people and the area by donating raffle prizes to charity and hosting cream tea events.
The Plough received a cheque for £3000 to put towards some community projects.
Chris said: "I would like to thanks all our locals and customers for their ongoing efforts towards a wide range of fundraising initiatives.
"We are humbled at the recognition and extremely pleased for out local area."
