A BRIDGWATER pub is up for a national award thanks to its commitment to helping the local community.
The Plough Inn, in Holford, has reached the final round in the Enterprise Inns’ Community Heroes Awards.
Since taking over The Plough Inn, publican Chris Hayes has been heavily involved in the local area, donating raffle prizes to local charities and hosting cream tea events for injured walkers from the hills and Cancer Research UK.
The pub also sponsors a local cricket team and a fun day.
The Enterprise Community Heroes initiative, now in its fourth year, celebrates the role that landlords and their pubs play in enhancing the lives of local people.
Winners receive cash prizes to spend on their own communities.
