A 125-page dossier outlining the “damaging behaviour” of the Bridgwater and West Somerset MP Ian Liddell-Grainger has been sent to the Prime Minister.

Conservatives from the West Somerset Council Leader Tim Taylor put the document together to highlight the underlying behaviour of the local Conservative MP , claiming that Mr Liddell-Grainger is “divisive” and “unsupportive”.

In the dossier, Cllr Taylor has described Mr Liddell-Grainger as a “disgrace to the Conservative Party” and that the West Somerset Council “deserves greater support from the... Bridgwater and West Somerset Conservative Association.”

The dossier has also been sent to the Conservative party chairman, Grant Shapps, and Conservative chief whip, Michael Gove.

The dossier includes:

  • Mr Liddell-Grainger’s attempts to “destabilise the partnership project” between West Somerset Council and Taunton Deane Council
  • Attempts to turn Sedgemoor District Council and West Somerset Council against each other
  • Claims of lack of support from the MP regarding the relationship between West Somerset Council and EDF
  • Inaccurate comments made by Mr Liddell-Grainger in Mercury’s coverage of the “airbrushing incident”
  • “Mistruths” published in the media

Complaints from constituents about the lack of correspondence with Mr Liddell-Grainger Julie Nicholson, Chairman of the Bridgwater and West Somerset Conservative Association, said: “Ian Liddell-Grainger is the Conservative Party candidate for the Bridgwater and West Somerset constituency, and I have every confidence in him.”

Mr Liddell-Grainger does not wish to comment.
