A YOUNG photographer from Westonzoyland will have his work displayed at an exhibition in Scotland as part of Down’s syndrome awareness month.

Oliver Hellowell, 18, has Down’s syndrome and will have a selection of his photographs on display in the exhibition, ‘A Different Perspective’, in Eden Court, Inverness.

Callum Mackinnon of Down’s Syndrome Scotland, said: “During Awareness Month I hope people take the opportunity to see Oliver’s work up close.

“His photographs are prime examples of what people with Down’s syndrome can achieve with the right support and encouragement.

“I’m sure A Different Perspective will challenge some of the stigmas that Down’s Syndrome Scotland works hard to eradicate.”

Wendy O’Carroll, Oliver’s mum, said: “Oliver, I think, sees the world a little differently.

“He sees a lot of the detail, a bit of sunshine on a leaf or a brightly coloured leaf amongst a dark surrounding area.

“He’ll notice all those tiny little things and want to capture them.”

Prints of Oliver’s work will be on sale at the exhibition from the March 3 until the end of the month with 50% of the profits going to Down’s Syndrome Scotland.
