TOMORROW'S Bridgwater Carnival is set to be one of the best in the town’s long history with the daytime programme jam-packed with amazing acts and entertainment to get you in the carnival mood.

The day’s festivities kick off at 10am in the town centre with street theatre, fairground rides and jugglers and clowns milling around to bring a smile to the face of Bridgwater people.

Face painting will be available between 10am and noon at Angel Place Shopping Centre for all those like to go that extra mile when it comes to carnival.

Over on the High Street stage, visitors will be entertained by music and dance from Rhythms of the City, the London School of Samba and our very own Bridgwater College Performing Arts group.

Meanwhile, the Cornhill stage will play host to a variety of acts from the likes of performer Dan the Hat, tribute band ABBA Authentic, Harry Winchester and The Gaslights.

The Bridgwater Arts Centre will also have an offering of live music between 4pm and 6pm.

Hot and cold food will be served throughout the day.

Radio personalities and Heart FM breakfast presenters Ed and Troy will broadcast a special live show between 1pm and 5pm from inside Angel Place Shopping Centre. The show will feature all the latest chat and news about Bridgwater Carnival.

Bridgwater’s community radio station Access FM will be broadcasting live all day from a temporary studio based at Sedgemoor Citizens Advice Bureau on the Cornhill.

A Bridgwater Carnival spokesperson said: “Carnival revellers will scarcely have time to pause for breath. There is just so much happening in the town centre with fun planned for the whole family.”

More than 150 local children from Robert Blake Science College, Chilton Trinity Technological College, Kingsmoor Primary School, Somerset Bridge Primary School and Westover Green Primary School will be taking part in a children’s dance parade through the town centre at 2.15pm, sponsored by the Arts Council England.

A children’s lantern parade featuring children from Somerset Bridge Primary School will also take place at 3.45pm.

Rita Jones, president of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, said: “I promise you will be truly mesmerised by Bridgwater Carnival 2014.

“In my mind, Bridgwater Carnival proves time and time again it really is the home of carnival, and after you have seen this year’s offering, I am sure you will have the same opinion as me.”
