SPECTATORS were able to enjoy a show of old style farming at a ploughing match in North Petherton on Saturday.
The event at Park Farm was organised by the Bridgwater and District Agricultural Society and featured 11 horses with judges awarding points for the best work done, the best turnout and for the best decorated pair of horses.
The rules also state that the teams must complete their ploughing in a ‘workmanlike’ manner.
As well as the horse ploughing spectacle, the day also featured a display of tractors and other farming machinery and an open-air bar and snacks.
Winners, as given by the society, were: Champion Ploughman - Nigel Anstee, Wiltshire; Local Champion Ploughman, David Dosson, Spaxton; Long Service Award - David Carpenter.
