BRIDGWATER College students helped plant 50 native tree saplings at a primary school as part of the Forest School initiative.
The trees were donated to Trull Primary School, near Taunton, by Monkton Elm Garden Centre and planted by Horticulture and Countryside Management students from the College, together with Green Pioneers from the College’s Forest School project.
Tom Cunningham, a Trainee Teacher at the College, said: “Projects like these give students great practical experience. The volunteer students enjoy helping the local community with projects that put their skills to beneficial use and leave a lasting legacy.”
Bridgwater College was the first educational establishment in the UK to set up a Forest School and the model has now become widely accepted across the country.
