TWO Bridgwater College students have been offered placements at a motorsport company to prepare prototype race cars.
Henry Marchant, 18, from North Newton, and Tristan Watkins, 18, from Bridgwater, were approached by Corinium Motorsport in Swindon, which was looking for two students to join its team.
The boys are studying the Foundation Degree in Motorsport Engineering at the college and their placements will count towards their degree.
Henry said: “After spending time with the College race team, I’m really looking forward to this placement.
“I love the atmosphere of being on the race track and this will help me in my studies and will provide me with valuable work experience, as I aim to be a race engineer in the future.”
The students will be preparing and maintaining three sports prototype race cars across the country at circuits such as Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
Both boys would like to take the new top-up BSc (Hons) Motorsport Engineering course, starting at Bridgwater College in September 2013, which is accredited by Oxford Brookes University (subject to validation).
