AUCTIONEERS Greenslade Taylor Hunt will be throwing open their doors on Saturday (September 1) to showcase all the items on offer in this month’s two auctions.

The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, will be open from 9am-12.30pm to provide would-be buyers the opportunity to view the lots in the antiques and the quarterly collectors sales.

The antiques sale takes place on Thursday, September 6, and the collectors event is on Friday, September 7. Both sales start at 10am. They will be on view again on Tuesday, September 4, and Wednesday, September 5, between 9am and 5pm.

The double sale will see a host of delights go under the hammer over the course of Thursday and Friday.

Bridgwater Mercury: EARLY EXAMPLE: This Georg Jensen labradorite necklace is guided at £600-£800. It is among a comprehensive selection of jewellery at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s sale on Thursday, September 6.

Among the jewellery is an early Georg Jensen Labradorite necklace (above). This charming piece features 13 flower heads alternating with batons set with cabochon. It has a pre-sale guide of £600-£800. The Danish silversmith is highly regarded for his timeless Scandinavian design. The company that bears his name continues to produce quality products of immense craft.

The collectors’ sale offers a vast range of interesting collectables including, of local interest, a Taunton station ‘totem’. This British Railways (Western Region) in sought-after original condition has a pre-sale estimate of £300-£400.

The quarterly sale includes a large collection of sewing accessories. Among the most striking is a French palais royal giltmetal and mother of pearl egg shaped etui. The two havles of the shell opening to reveal a thimble, scissors, needle case and stiletto, on a circular alabaster base.

Another appealing item for enthusiasts is a large selection of sewing accessories. These are guided at  £100-£120.

The saleroom is also making preparations for the biannual sporting sale, which takes place on Thursday, October 4. It will commence following the conclusion of the monthly antiques auction. Put together by valuer Stuart Triggol this includes all types of items to interest the sporting enthusiast.
