A LATE 19th Century carriage clock sold for £900 in Tamlyns’ recent Antique and Collectors Sale, held on Wednesday, July26.

The clock, which had an hour repeat and an alarm, was made by Ball, Black and Co of New York and had considerable interest during the sale before the hammer fell.

Further included in the auction was a Royal Doulton Tango pattern dinner and coffee service which sold for £550, well above its guide price. Also included within the ceramic section was a collection of Royal Crown Derby paperweights, which were sold individually and for over £500.

The jewellery and silver sections once again saw some excellent prices with an 18ct gold diamond and emerald ring selling for £800, a 9ct gold curb link bracelet, £720, and a set of twelve silver tablespoons and twelve matching dessert spoon for £480.

Tamlyns’ next Antique auction is to be held on Wednesday, August 30 and entries are now invited. Items can be consigned at the auctioneers’ weekly valuation morning held every Friday at their Bridgwater saleroom, from 9.30am until 12.30pm.
