THE Isdon Farm Sale of Dairy Cattle and Machinery on Wednesday 7th March for TE Pocock & Co. drew an exceptional crowd for the 325 cattle and surplus machinery and dairy equipment on offer.

98 successful purchasers from as far as Cornwall, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Wales produced a top price of 2050gns for the September calved heifer “Wintersell Verna 217th” that was giving 32.7 kgs and travelled back to Pembrokeshire.

A very strong incalf heifer trade topped at 1850gns for “Melcombe Pluto Jackie 3rd” due in a month to “Wintersell Milo” (sexed semen). “Broadleaze Armani Hetty” due to the Hereford at the end of March sold to 1700gns.

Of the 6 bulls on offer it was the 3½ year old Charolais “Martland Jenson” who sold for 2000gns.

The day cattle auction started at 10.30am and finished at 3.30pm. At 12.30pm the machinery sale commenced and produced £32,200 for the 2012 John Deere 6630 Premium, £27,000 for the 2008 John Deere 6630 Premium, £24,600 for the 2009 JCB 536-60, £22,000 for the Keenan Mech Fibre Feeder Wagon. The 24:24 DeLaval Milking Parlour sold for £14,000, the 2009 Hi-Spec 3000 gallon Slurry tanker sold for £7,300 and the Yard Tractor John Deere 2850 for £5,100.

40 years of dairy farming was bought to a conclusion with a good trade for all the lots on offer to produce the following averages: 235 Dairy Cows & Heifers £1217.00; 73 Grazing & Barren Cows £692.00; 11 Incalf Heifers £1564.00; 6 Bulls £1568.00; 325 Head £1117.00.
