My name is Andrew Gilling, one of the two Conservative candidates for the Knoll Ward of Sedgemoor District Council. I have been a District Councillor since 2002 and a Parish Councillor for 40 years.
I am a retired dairy farmer and still live on the same farm in Rooksbridge where I was born in 1948.
As the Portfolio Holder for Housing I have overseen the supply of many affordable homes across the District. I am also responsible for homelessness and am proud to say SDC was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for the prevention of homelessness.
I am standing as a Councillor because I believe passionately in the value of community spirit. I recognise that politicians are not too popular at the moment but I recognise that the current situation is a national predicament, but I prefer to concentrate on local issues.
