Top Road and Rock Hill, Temporary Road Closure due to Resurfacing Works

Temporary Closure of Top Road and Rock Hill

Somerset County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, have made an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: Top Road - from the junction with Langport Road, westwards for a distance of 1550 metres; and Rock Hill - from the junction with Top Road, north westwards for a distance of 753 metres, for a total distance of 2303 metres. This Order will enable Milestone Infrastructure to carry out works related to resurfacing.

The Order becomes effective on 4th August 2022 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to commence on 15th August 2022 and last until 26th August 2022 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 12 days. There is no alternative route for this closure. The works promoter will contact residents and businesses directly to discuss access arrangements.

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or
b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
