CARA Lynch-Blosse is the new head teacher of Stogursey Primary School.
She was born in Scotland, but spent most of her childhood in Hertfordshire. She has taught in London, Germany and Oxfordshire.
Cara was deputy head of an infant school before taking up a headship in a small rural school not dissimilar to Stogursey. From there, she went on to be head of a larger primary on the outskirts of Oxford.
Cara and her partner Jonathan have four children between them, all young adults living between London and Truro.
Cara says the most important things to her are family and community.
What is the best and worst thing about the place you live in?
“The best thing has to be the countryside - to be able to walk on the beach, over the hills, across the moors and through a combe all in one day! Having only just moved here, I can't think of a 'worst thing'.”
What is the best and worst thing about your job?
“Seeing a child's face light up and beam when they achieve and are proud of themselves. The worst thing is when adults don't celebrate that achievement.”
What was your ambition as a child?
“To be a nurse like my mum.”
What has been your greatest achievement?
“Recently, sanding my wooden sitting room floor by myself, but in my life it has to be my children of whom I'm so proud.”
What characteristic do you dislike most in others and in yourself?
“It has to be dishonesty in others and I know I can be impatient especially when I think something is very clear.”
What is your biggest fear?
“The dark.”
When and where were you happiest?
“Special days with my family. Now that they are busy young adults, days all together can be difficult to arrange so I treasure them.”
What three items would you take to a desert island?
“A book, probably Sarum by Edward Rutherford (it's been on my 'to read' list for years), sun tan cream and a solar powered torch and I hope I'd be rescued quickly.”
Who are your dream dinner party guests (maximum five)?
“Barack Obama and his wife so I could talk to him about starting a new job, and my partner Jonathan, of course.”
How would you like to be remembered?
“As someone who cared for the education of all children and who managed to make a difference to some.”
