Jemma Gould - In the Spotlight

Jemma Gould, 24, has been working on the Sydenham estate in Bridgwater as a police community support officer for just over a year and a half.

Before becoming a PCSO, Jemma was a special constable in Burnham. Prior to joining the police, she completed a degree in early childhood studies at Bridgwater College and the University of Plymouth.

She then went onto be a supervisor on the deli at Somerfield in Burnham, and worked at Palmers Butchers before becoming a PCSO. In her spare time Jemma plays the clarinet in the King Alfred Concert Band.

She also loves listening to music and watching films, especially good horrors.

What is the best and worst thing about the place you live in?

“I like living in a village as it's quiet and there are not too many problems with youths. The only down point is, it is not easy to get home after a night out, due to being out of town.”

What is the best and worst thing about your job?

“I love the fact I can help to make people feel safe within their area. Unfortunately the job can have its stressful days though, but at least no day is the same!”

What was your ambition as a child?

“I think I did want to join the police at one stage. I also wanted to be a teacher.”

What has been your greatest achievement?

“I would say getting my degree. I know my family were very proud of me. Also getting into the police has been a good achievement. I really enjoy my role.”

What characteristic do you dislike most in others and in yourself?

“I don't like dishonest people. There is nothing worse than a person who lies! For myself, I think I worry too much sometimes.”

What is your biggest fear?

“Spiders! They are horrible!”

When and where were you happiest?

“I'm happy when I'm at home with my boyfriend. He's brilliant.”

What three items would you take to a desert island?

“A book by Sophie Kinsella, an Ipod and my mobile phone.”

Who are your dream dinner party guests (maximum five)?

“Some lovely looking actors like Vin Diesel, Stephen Dorf and Jason Statham.”

How would you like to be remembered?

“For making a difference around the Sydenham area of Bridgwater.”
