Susan grew up in Bristol, living with her parents and two younger sisters. Very soon after finishing secondary school, at the age of 16, a lump was discovered in her neck. Following a biopsy and further tests, Hodgkin's disease was diagnosed and she was treated with surgery and mantle radiotherapy. Susan remained cancer free for 23 years.

She moved to Bridgwater in 1991, helping to run her husband's CD and record shop in town. Susan went on to have four children but at the age of 39, Ductal Carcinoma in Situ was found in Susan's left breast, which resulted in a bi-lateral mastectomy.

Susan started up a breast cancer internet support group, where she made friends with many other cancer patients.

In March this year, a lump was found inside of her cheek, and she was referred to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. This turned out to be yet another cancer - Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma - a very rare type of tumour.

Thankfully, although she has to have regular checks, Susan is now in remission.

She lives in Bridgwater with her husband Dave, their twin children Katie and Michael, along with their dog, three cats, one rabbit and some goldfish.

Earlier this year she became a grandmother to two boys, Riley and James.

Susan works as an optical assistant at Eye Deals in Eastover.

What is the best and worst thing about the place you live in? The best thing about living in Bridgwater is that it's only a short ride to get to the beach or the countryside.

The worst is living so far away from my dad and sisters.

What is the best and worst thing about your job? I love my job, I work with a great bunch of girls.

The worst is trying to dodge the flying elastic bands, which certain members of the team are so good at flinging at high speed!

What was your ambition as a child? As a child, I wanted to be a secretary.

What has been your greatest achievement? Surviving cancer three times so far.

What characteristic do you dislike most in others and in yourself? I really don't like liars, or two-faced people. I am a worrier and don't have a lot of confidence.

What is your biggest fear? Getting cancer again.

When and where were you happiest? The best day of my life was marrying Dave. The happiest times are when we are all at home and snuggled up in front the TV.

What three items would you take to a desert island? Custard Creams (my favourite), a radio and a game of solitaire.

Who are your dream dinner party guests (maximum five)? Paul Heaton (from Beautiful South), Richard Gere, Patrick Swayze, Jeremy Kyle and Bob Geldof.

How would you like to be remembered? For being a fighter!
