Nic has a vocational degree in police studies and a teaching qualification.

What is the best and worst thing about your job as a police officer? The best part is helping people having a tough time. The worst part is that they needed help in the first place.

What was your ambition as a child? To be a police officer! I thought though that they were super-human people so I went to work for a bank. When I got bored I decided to try and achieve my ambition. The reality is we're just normal people doing a tough job.

What has been your greatest achievement? To become a Dad to two terrific girls.

What characteristic do you dislike most in others and yourself? Rushing. We all have too much to do and don't manage our time well enough.

What is your biggest fear? My wife! OK, seriously, not giving my family enough time.

When and where were you happiest? Here and now. My family is well, I have a great job and work with some really good colleagues.

What three items would you take to a desert island? My iPod, solar-powered laptop (with roaming broadband) and a hat Who are your dream dinner party guests? Steven Gerrard, Clayton Johnson (Oklahoman Police Chief friend), David Gilmour (lead guitarist, Pink Floyd), Mikhail Gorbachev and Jeffrey Archer.

How would you like to be remembered? As someone who helped others and had fun along the way.
