This Week: Former Bridgwater greengrocer George Cossey, who recently travelled across Spain as part of the St James pilgrimage to raise money for charity.

George was born in Bristol Road, Bridgwater, to parents Bill and Lily. He has two sisters, Brenda and Stella, and a brother John. As a child, George attended St John's, St Margaret's and Dr Morgan's grammar schools before joining the family greengrocer business upon leaving education.

He worked there for four years before joining the Royal Marines. After leaving the Marines, he rejoined the family business which he eventually took over He sold the Cossey business last year, giving him the time to take part in the pilgrimage. He is married to Margaret and has four children, Joanna, Jenna, William and Louise.

What is the best and worst thing about the place you live in?

The best is being surrounded by countryside but the worst part is trying to get around the town.

What is the best and worst thing about your job?

As I'm retired I would say the worst thing is not having enough time to do everything I would like to do.

What was your ambition as a child?

To be a good sportsman, especially in rugby and cricket.

What has been your greatest achievement?

Having my family around me, a fantastic wife and four marvellous children.

What is your biggest fear?

My biggest fear would have to be drowning.

When and where are you happiest?

Bridgwater most of the time!

What three items would you take to a desert island?

A golf bag with loads of balls, a laptop with Internet connection and a scuba diving set.

Who are your dream dinner party guests?

Martin Johnson, Patrick O'Brien, Charles Darwin, John Lennon and Gene Kelly.

How would you like to be remembered?

As a good father, friend and husband.
