IN THE SPOTLIGHT: THIS WEEK: Co-author of The Mystery of the Crystal Skulls - the inspiration behind the new Indiana Jones film - and Spaxton resident, Chris Morton.
Chris Morton was born near Glasgow, Scotland, to parents Marion and Andrew. He has a brother, Mike, and two sisters Madeline and Julie.
He attended primary school in Scotland before his family uprooted to London, where he continued his secondary education.
Upon leaving school, he returned to Scotland where he studied film and media studies at the University of Stirling.
He co-wrote the book The Mystery of the Crystal Skulls with his partner Ceri Louise Thomas, which has inspired the story of the new Indiana Jones movie.
He moved to Spaxton five years ago and currently lives with his partner and his two sons.
What is the best and worst thing about the place you live in?
"The best aspect about living in the Quantocks is being surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. The downside is running out of milk with the lack of corner shops!"
What is the best and worst thing about your job?
"I love how I can do what I want, when I want, but sometimes I may not get paid for years on end. That's a definite downside."
What was your ambition as a child?
"I have a fondness for animals so I wanted to be a vet in my younger years."
What has been your greatest achievement?
"My biggest achievements would have to be writing a couple of best selling books and inspiring the new Indiana Jones movie."
What characteristic do you dislike most in others and in yourself?
"I have a strong dislike of envy."
What is your biggest fear?
"My biggest fear is not getting paid!"
What three items would you take to a desert island?
"I would take my partner and two sons."
Who are your dream dinner party guests (maximum five)?
"My mum and dad, my partner's mum and dad and any of my good friends."
How would you like to be remembered?
"As someone who helped save the planet."
