IT has been a fixture in Bridgwater's Eastover since before the Second World War, but today the town's Woolworths store will close its doors for the final time.
Many shoppers in Bridgwater have expressed their sadness at seeing the store close down, and one visitor to the Mercury website, bridgwatermercury.co.uk, spoke for many when she said: “It is such a shame to see Woolies go. It is the end of an era.
“Are we going to have any shops at all left in our town?”
Deloitte, the administrators in charge of Woolworths, announced last week that all its stores nationwide would close by early January, and some shut for the final time on Sunday.
