Yeovil Town Ladies need to sharpen reactions

YEOVIL Town Ladies manager Steve Phelps has said that his players need to have quicker reactions now they are playing in a higher league.

The Glovers are now playing in the FA Tesco Women's Premier League Southern Division and kicked-off the campaign with a 2-0 defeat on Sunday against Reading in a League Cup group game.

And Phelps said: "Now that we are playing high league clubs our reactions have to be a lot quicker.

"But I thought we matched Reading in most other departments. I am a little disappointed that we did not capitalise on more of our chances, especially in the second half.

"But when we got into those positions their defenders used their experience to close us down at the vital moments.

"It taught us a lesson that you have to chase anything that comes your way, get your body in the way and stop everything.

"And that is why we did not score, because they reacted quickly to what we threw at them. And that is down to experience."
