Somerset Rebels 57, Redcar Bear 36

SOMERSET Rebels produced a clinical display to overcome any threat posed by the Redcar Bears on Friday night.

From the first tape rise, the Rebels put the Bears to the sword, posting four successive maximum scores to follow up their opening 4-2 advantage. Jason Doyle got the flood of points under way, blazing from the tapes to lead all the way in the opening heat.

It was then one-two finishes for Kyle Newman and Tom Perry in heat two, James Wright and Alex Davies in heat three, Jesper Monberg and Perry in heat four and Monburg and Wright in heat five to take a commanding 24-6 lead.

Redcar fought back with an 8-1 win in a tactical ride in heat eight to narrow the gap to 11 points but a maximum 5-1 win in heat 11 from Newman and Monberg re-asserted the Rebels' lead.

The Rebels negotiated the rest of the heats without too much worry with further wins for Doyle and Wright to wrap up a convincing 57-36 win.
