The ‘Cases’ Somerset Rebels have been hit by the news that rider Claus Vissing suffered a broken collar-bone as a result of his fall in last night's Premier League match at Ipswich that was broadcast live on Sky TV.

At this early stage it is too early to say for how long Vissing will be sidelined, and it is hoped that further news and an update on the situation can be announced by the club on Friday night during the Rebels match against Newcastle, in the meantime Somerset will operate rider replacement for the unfortunate Dane in tomorrow night’s match at Redcar and again in Friday's home meeting against Newcastle.

“Losing Claus is an obvious blow, not just for us, but for Claus himself,” said Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock, “especially has he has only recently returned to the side after a spell out due to a punctured lung sustained at Sheffield at the end of May.”

“Once we have a better idea of how long he will be sidelined, we can then sit down and assess the various options available to us before making a decision as to the way forward.”
