ALEX Davies helped a depleted Somerset Rebels to victory as they beat Edinburgh Monarchs 48-41 at the Oak Tree Arena last night (September 21).
Davies notched up 14 points as the Dickies made it two wins from two, following on from last week's success over the Redcar Bears.
The home side were without injured skipper James Holder, who was sidelined with an on-going chest problem.
But his guest replacement Kyle Newman, of Newcastle, scored an impressive 13 points of his own to ensure the Rebels picked up all three points.
Kevin Wolbert top scored for the visitors with 13 points, who clash with the Rebels again tomorrow (September 23) in the Scottish capital.
*DAKOTA North has been ruled out for the rest of the season after he suffered a broken collarbone during last night's meeting.
However there was better news for Cory Gathercole, who revealed nothing was broken during the crash but remains a doubt for tomorrow.
Davies said: “Of course it was a blow to lose Cory and Dak so early on, these guys are generally so awesome around the Oak Tree Arena, but there was no way that the rest of us were going to throw in the towel, that’s not the Somerset way.
“We just had to pick ourselves up and get on with the job in hand, and thankfully it came good for us in the end.”
