THE Somerset Dickies Rebels are gearing up for an evening of celebration as the club holds their ten-year anniversary meeting at the Oak Tree Arena on Friday (August 20).
Speedway fans are in for an evening of fantastic action with Jason Lyons, Justin Sedgmen, Linus Sundstrom, Mark Lemon, and Ricky Ashworth all confirmed starters for the evening.
The home quartet of Shane Parker, Cory Gathercole, Sam Masters and Christian Hefenbrock will also make an appearance, as will Eastbourne Eagles captain Cameron Woodward.
The anniversary meeting was originally scheduled for the start of the 2010 season in March but poor weather forced the Rebels management to call it off.
Rebels co-promoter Debbie Hancock said: “We did say at the time that if we couldn't get a line-up comparable to that we had for the original staging then we wouldn't run the meeting.
“But I have had so many fans come up to me to say that they still wanted to have a celebration meeting, irrespective of whether or not we could get the Grand Prix riders back.
“Unfortunately, it has proved to be impossible to get them back, but the riders we have booked have all had excellent meetings here on their visits to the Oak Tree Arena, plus it has meant we have been able to secure the services of Chris Holder, Darcy Ward and Jason Doyle, who were unavailable for the original meeting.”
