SOMERSET Rebels duo Alex Davies and Nick Morris finished fourth and fifth respectively in the Australian Under-21 Speedway Championship held at Kurri Kurri (NSW) today, the title being won by new Edinburgh signing, Max Fricke.

Davies battled back from a first ride last place to score nine points from his remaining four rides to claim a place in the 'B' Final, while Morris will no doubt rue a last ride fall and subsequent exclusion which denied him an automatic place in the 'A' Final after he had scored 11 points from his first four rides.

It was enough, however, for him to join Rebels team-mate Davies in the 'B' Final together with Cameron Heeps and Tyson Nelson, but in a superb four laps of wheel to wheel racing it was Davies that took the chequered flag as he held off the combined challenges from Morris and Heeps to put him through to the Championship deciding 'A' Final where he joined defending Champion Taylor Poole, Justin Sedgmen and Max Fricke.

Unfortunately Davies was unable to repeat his ‘B’ Final victory in the ‘A’ Final, and it was Fricke who came through to pass Poole with little over a lap to go to claim the Championship Crown.
