THINGS are moving rapidly now on the redevelopment of the Somerset Cricket Museum.
And although it will still be housed in the wonderful old Priory Barn at the County Ground, the inside has changed beyond recognition and it is not too much of an exaggeration to say it will look like a new museum.
The second mezzanine floor has been built, the new open staircase and the bridge linking the two mezzanines, and all the internal glass has been installed, in addition to which new lighting and heating is in place.
It is expected that the museum officers will take possession of the building from the builders on February 10.
Contracts for the new display cases and graphics have been awarded and it is hoped to be open to the public by Easter.
David Wood the Honorary Secretary of the Somerset Cricket Museum said: “I know it is traditional for people to say that anything new is 'exciting' or 'amazing'.
“But after all the setbacks and difficulties the trustees have survived over the last twelve months, we are on the final lap and I really do believe people will be excited and amazed when they see the transformation.”
