SOMERSET thrashed Glamorgan by 249 runs at the County Ground yesterday to ensure that they will be at home in the Clydesdale Bank 40 semi-finals.
The victory means that Somerset will now take on Essex in Taunton this Saturday for a place in the final.
Peter Trego hit a career-best 147 and Jos Buttler smashed 90 not out off only 33 balls as Somerset piled up 368-4 - their highest score in 40-over cricket.
James Hildreth also weighed in with an unbeaten 58 as he played second fiddle to Buttler in an unbroken stand of 117.
Ben Phillips then took 4-31 as Glamorgan were bowled out for 119.
Trego helped himself to five sixes and 19 fours in his 89-ball knock, sharing 128 for the fourth wicket with Hildreth before becoming one of three victims for Will Owen.
But his fireworks were overshadowed by those of Buttler, who smashed eight fours and seven sixes in Somerset's huge total, which beat the 360-3 they made also against Glamorgan in Neath in 1990.
Buttler brought up his half-century off only 18 balls, making it the fastest 50 in English one-day cricket in 14 years.
It helped set the platform for Somerset's biggest victory in one-day cricket against a first-class county as a weakened Glamorgan put up little fight.
