Somerset V Kent - Close of play Day 1

6:03pm Tuesday 20th July 2010

Somerset sit on 122-7 at the close of play in day one of their LV Championship Division One match with Kent.

Somerset were put in to bat by the visitors and breezed to 101-1 with Marcus Trescothick the man to get out for 27.

Disaster then struck for Somerset as Arul Suppiah, 34, Jos Buttler, 20, and James Hildreth, 0, all got out in the three overs before lunch to leave Somerset on 101-4.

After the resumption only 17 runs were added as three more wickets fell. Craig Kieswetter, Pete Trego and Ben Phillips all got out for single figure scores before the heavens opened and stopped play.

Kent's Darren Stevens is sitting on figures of 4-21 at the moment and will be hoping to complete a five wicket haul should play resume.

However, rain is forecast for the remainder of the week and it may well be that we have seen the last of the action in this LV championship match.
