AUSSIE Justin Langer is not at all surprised at the success that Somerset's Craig Kieswetter is enjoying playing at a higher level.
Langer, who skippered the Cidermen for three seasons between 2007-9 before stepping down last autumn was without doubt one of the influential factors behind the 22 year old's meteoric rise through the cricketing ranks, and was in charge for the all of the time that Kieswetter has been playing for the Somerset senior side.
Langer, who made 104 Test match appearances for his country before retiring from international cricket in 2007, is now heavily involved with Cricket Australia, where he is working as a batting coach and also in a mentoring capacity.
Speaking from his home in Western Australia the former Somerset captain said: “I am delighted to see Craig playing so well. His development has been outstanding and he should be used as a role model to all of the other young players in the Club.”
JL went on: “ The reason for this is that he has taken his God-given talent and through tireless hard work has continued to improve.”
Langer added: “It is no surprise to me that he has started so strongly because he is an outstanding talent with a great work ethic and hunger to achieve excellence. If he continues to work hard he could become one of the stand out players in international cricket over the next decade.”
