SOMERSET’S Jamie Overton will join twin brother Craig in the England ODI squad after being called up to replace the injured Liam Plunkett.
All-rounder Craig was called into the squad on Saturday following an injury to Chris Jordan – and the ECB today announced that Jamie - who was not selected by Somerset for the LVCC match against Nottinghamshire – would be joining the squad for the remainder of the one-day series against New Zealand.
England head into the fourth one-day international at Trent Bridge (Wednesday) 2-1 down in the five-match series.
On Craig’s call-up, director of cricket Matt Maynard said: “This is great news for Craig and Somerset cricket and thoroughly deserved and we wich him every success.
Matt added: “Of course it’s disappointing that Craig will miss our match against Notts’ but it is testament to the quality of young players that we are producing at Somerset.”
