THE draw for next year’s List A domestic competition, which is to be a 50 over tournament, has been made by Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick.
The 18 First Class counties were randomly drawn into two groups of nine, in which they will play each opponent once with four games at home and four away.
The top four from each group will go through to the quarter-finals.
Somerset have been drawn in Group B along with Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Middlesex, Glamorgan, Durham, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.
Dave Nosworthy, the Cidermen’s director of cricket, reckons that his team have been drawn in the hardest of the two groups.
He said: “On current form it looks as if Group B, the one that Somerset are drawn in is the stronger one on paper.
“While it’s difficult to be sure what sort of form teams will be in, in terms of squad make up and recent history there are some strong one day sides.”
