THIS was a severe test for North Petherton and after only seven minutes they found themselves 10 points behind due to errors.
But the resilient Petherton side struck back with a well worked try as Damien Griffin went under the post from outside the 22.
A couple of minutes later Griffin was in again after a break by Aaron Gibbs offloaded out of the tackle to release the dynamic winger who was looking for work.
In the 20th minute, Petherton had a line-out 10m out and from the catch drove over the line with Jamie Cox controlling from the back.
Unfortunately the errors and lack of precision persisted and Devonport were let back in with a try to take a 20-17 lead at half time.
The second half saw the switch turned on and Petherton were awarded a five metre scrum which was driven over by Aaron Gibbs to open the scoring in the half.
A couple of minutes later Petherton scored again after a quick tapped penalty gave James Carter the opportunity to score under the posts.
The final points of the game were a penalty converted by Roberts in the 51st minute.
Next week Petherton will travel to rivals Wellington.
