NORTH Petherton maintained their winning run with the narrowest of victories away at third placed Crewkerne.
Petherton started well but it was the home side that opened the scoring as their winger scooped the ball up and ran the length of the pitch and score in the left corner.
Despite this opening onslaught Petherton showed one of the main reasons why they have remained unbeaten so far this season, namely their defence, which was resolute again as they shut out Crewkerne for the rest of the match.
After 25 minutes Petherton finally managed to produce some incisive play as right winger Brian Stenson was just denied two try scoring opportunities by some determined last ditch defending.
Five minutes later, Ben Williams punched through a hole in the covering defence and passed out to winger Briffett, who finished well.
The second half continued to be an intense struggle for superiority, but as the match wore on Pethy began to dominate possession.
In the final 10 minutes, Petherton forced a penalty and despite missing the first attempt, Pearce was precision like second time round to give his side the elusive three points needed to take the lead and hold on for the win.
