NORTH Petherton were tested to their limits on Saturday against a well-drilled Bideford side.
The first-half saw Petherton rely on their strong defence as the Bideford backs put together a string of attacks.
Bideford opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a penalty conceded by Petherton from a collapsed scrum.
Petherton found it hard to get out of their own half as Bideford made use of the possession with accurate passing and their speedy winger helped to score their only try of the match.
In the second-half, Petherton were able to string some phases together, resulting in Aaron Gibbs breaking through, only to be held up over the try-line.
In the last quarter Petherton were able at last to show some domination and eventually the forwards were able to go over in the corner with James Cox scoring.
Petherton rallied right to the end, and could have come away with the points after a break by Aaron Gibbs left Carter with a three on one situation, but unfortunately the pass was knocked on.
Petherton will hope to get back to winning ways next week. The 1st XV are home to Bude, 2ndXV are away to Crewkerne, and the Colts are home to Minehead.
