Bridgwater'S Morganians Rugby Club is mourning the loss of former player Roy Tapscott, who has died aged 90.
Roy had a life-long passion for rugby and played his last game in his early 50s.
He was born in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, in 1919, and moved to Bridgwater a few years later.
The former Dr Morgan's Grammar School pupil joined the post office after finishing school and then worked in the Signals section in the Second World War.
Roy was Morganians' club secretary for many years and played a key role in starting up the club's colts section.
He was elected as a life member in 1975 and continued to support the team until his death in April.
Morganians chairman John McBain said: “He helped build the club up to what it is today and even helped build the clubhouse.
“He was well known in the town and got many young players into rugby. He even got Bridgwater and Albion's Mike Berry into the game.”
