PETHERTON travelled to Castle Cary with hopes of completing a double over a strong Cary side - and with a side bolstered by several colts players, they were hoping for a good performance.
The match was an even affair for the first 20 minutes.
Petherton's fly half Harry Roberts missed what was - for him - a relatively simple penalty chance, but that was soon forgotten after the forwards drove deep into Cary's 22 and scrum half Sam Tozer picked up and went over the line like a whippet. Roberts missed the conversion.
Petherton should have really added to their only score, but often dropped passes. This lead to many attacks failing to produce any further points to the score line.
Cary dominated the second half and with the slope and the wind in their favour, quickly scored three tries with two conversions to take the victory 19-5.
On Good Friday Petherton 2nd Xv entertain Taunton 3rd Xv in the annual Caroline Mitchell Memorial Cup match This is traditionally a 1st Xv fixture, but due to a re-arranged match it will now be fulfilled by the 2nd XV.
