Morganians 2nd XV 5, North Petherton 3rd XV 12

IT was the first time in seven years that Morgs fielded a second string team, helping to show the steps forward that the club is making as a whole.

A few of Morgs' more experienced players came and helped boost the squad team squad for this game, but they still succumbed to defeat.

The game was a very close affair and Pethy scored the first points of the day after a big drive by their forwards, and then good hands by their backs to score in the corner.

Royston Grimstead closed the gap ten minutes later after crashing through three players to score.

There was a lot of good play in the midfield by both teams but Ben Chandler was a stand-out performer in the game after making a lot of ground for the home team on a number of his mazy runs through the defence.

The final points were added by Pethy just before half time after Tyrone Harris pounced on a loose ball to give the visitors the win.

The second team will play again in two weeks and people are encouraged to head down and get involved.
