Somerset 1
Old Sulians 39, North Petherton II 26

PEHTY’S dismal run continued in Bath with a hugely disappointing defeat at Old Sulians, writes Matt Glanville.

Despite a good start Pethy threw away the match with incredibly poor discipline and defensive work, gifting the hosts several tries either side of half time.

However, Pethy did rouse themselves from disarray in the last 20 minutes, scoring three consolation tries to rescue a bonus point and lend some respectability to the scoreline.

As in recent weeks the second string started well with a much changed line-up. They put together several phases and testing out the Old Sulians defence early on.

Good running by fly-half Karl Jarvis and centre’s Steve Potter and Jamie Adams made early inroads, and a break by Adams put scrum-half Oscar Treganna into space on the Sulians 22 with ten minutes gone, where he brilliantly side stepped one man before rounding the full-back to score under the posts. Full-back Dan Pearce converted for an early 7-0 lead.

But from 15th minute until the hour mark the visitors conceded six tries and the game was all but over.

Pethy acquitted themselves well in the last 20 minutes through tries from winger Craig Palmer, Pearce and Adams.

This Saturday (March 9) Pethy entertain Chard.
